Shaquille O'Neal said before Tuesday's practice that his sore right calf is "getting better" and is optimistic that he will be ready for Wednesday night's game at Madison Square Garden against Amare Stoudemire and the New York Knicks.
"I'm doing better," O'Neal said. "My calf juices are getting back up there. I'll be alright (WEEI)."
This is good news for the Celtics. They are very weak upfront right now with Jermaine O'Neal and Perkins still out, so having Shaq back is big for this team. The Knicks have been red hot of late (9-1 in their last game games), but I am not buying they are a threat to the Celtics. A lot of their wins during this 8 game winning streak were against shitty teams, and I think even with the Celtics beat up they are going to expose the Knicks. By expose I mean the Knicks are going to lose by 20.
Doc went on to say he won't clear Shaq until after today's practice, but from everything I'm reading it sounds like he will play.
***UPDATE***
Guess not...
Shaq will miss tonight's game, according to the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn.
